The Athens Traders’ Association on Friday unveiled its proposed shop opening times for the holiday season starting on December 13, which will include the opening of shops on two Sundays before Christmas, on December 14 and 21.

The retailers propose that shops stay open from 9:00-18:00 on the two Saturdays before Christmas, December 13 and December 20, and from 9:00-20:00 on the Saturday before New Year (December 27).

They propose that shops open from 11:00-18:00 on the second and third Sundays of the month (December 14 and 21) but stay closed on December 28.

They also propose extended opening times, from 9:00-21:00 each day, on all weekdays between December 15-23 and on December 29-30. On December 24 and December 31, they propose opening from 9:00-18:00.

Shops will remain shut on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day and on Friday, January 2 to offset opening on Sunday, December 21. Staff working on December 14 will be given an additional day off in rotation.
